Athénée Pearl Suite - Syntagma

Perfect stay! Positive: Great stay! Perfect central location right by Syntagma Square, with easy walks to Plaka, Monastiraki, Psyrri, and the Acropolis. 10-15 mins. Lots of restaurants nearby and very safe even at night. The apartment was clean, comfortable, with soft linens, good A/C, and reliable Wi-Fi. Check-in instructions were very clear, which made everything easy. Highly recommend! Negative: None.

Yuk Positive: Renovated and new. Negative: Access was difficult. building old and dirty. Room tiny. Stairway filthy. Felt unsafe.

Would not stay here again but the location was good. Positive: Good location. Negative: Unfortunately, we were stuck in the building for 30 minutes because the roller door was not working. We found this very unsettling given there was no alternative exit or option to open the roller door manually, presenting a safety risk in the event of an emergency i.e., a fire. We contacted the host and they did not answer the call, when they called back one of their colleagues arrived (by chance as they were starting their shift) and opened the door from the outside. We were told that the door was fixed but when we tried to open the door later that evening it still did not open. We were eventually able to open it with a new key but had we not checked this we would’ve been trapped in the building the next morning and would have missed our ferry. We were told by a staff member that the door is known for being faulty and that one of their staff members was trapped in the building recently for 40 minutes. The apartment itself was clean, but the actual building was dirty and run down. Some of the staff were helpful, but little sympathy and understanding was shown for the safety issues that were raised.
